Angola and Namibia: a jeep expedition

  • Length14 days
  • Groupup to 12 people
  • Formatgroup tour
  • DifficultyHigh

A jeep expedition across two countries guidebooks barely mention: Angola and Namibia. 3,160 kilometres in 14 days — from the lunar clay cliffs outside Luanda to the Kalandula falls, across the Namib desert and Iona National Park to the Himba villages and a safari in Etosha.

We travel in three four-wheel-drive Toyota Fortuners or similar cars, up to twelve people in a group: part of the route runs on dirt roads where ordinary vehicles do not pass. We stay in city hotels, riverside fazendas and lodges by the waterfalls.

Activity level

High

An expedition: long drives on dirt roads, early starts, heat. No special skills are needed, but stamina and readiness for simple conditions on the road are.

FAQ

Do I need a visa?

Russian citizens do not need visas for Angola or Namibia. For other passports the rules differ and change, so we check each case individually: tell us your citizenship before booking and we will verify the requirements for both countries.

Do I need vaccinations?

Vaccination requirements depend on your citizenship and flight route, so we check them together with the visas before booking — write to us and we will confirm what you need. About malaria: doctors usually suggest medication as prophylaxis, and that decision is yours to make with your own doctor. From experience we rely on repellents and long sleeves — we explain in detail what to bring and how to use it before departure.

How many flights are inside the route?

One: Luanda to Namibe on day six, about 50 minutes. It is included in the price. The rest of the distance — 3,160 kilometres — we drive.

What insurance do I need?

Medical insurance for the whole trip. It is not included in the tour price. We work with ERGO and are insured with them ourselves: their policy covers active holidays, hiking in the mountains and trips to exotic countries. If you are unsure what to choose, write to us and we will explain what to look for in the terms.
